Beginners guide to embroidery

To get embroidery lessons off to a good start, it is important to have the right accessories. Do not start embroidering with a toothpick and sewing thread. Embroidery is a creative hobby that requires specific material, and fortunately, does not require a little investment.

The basic material consists of embroidery threads, needles, drum, erasable felt, and of course fabric.

The fabric can be diverse and varied. Indeed, you can decide to customize dresses, a t-shirt, jacket sleeves, a cushion, etc. But to start well, I advise you to choose a linen fabric suitable for beginner practice. Indeed, clothing fabrics are sometimes elastic and do not allow a good management of embroidery. Starting with linen canvas will make you feel more comfortable.

You must then choose your threads. You should know that a skein of threads contains many threads that you can separate or assemble to choose the final thickness of your thread. It is possible to buy whole lots of skeins of different colors.

Buy needles different sizes. Take care that the needle is sharp enough (except in cross-stitch where the needle may be rounded). You must also be able to pass several threads through the eye if necessary.
